I WENT TO PATERSON

A performance and photography installation about the opioid crisis

I Went to Paterson is an interdisciplinary performance and photography installation. Combining documentary theatre, live performance, still photography, and projected media, the performance unfolds within a gallery of photographs drawn from years of documenting the impact of the opioid crisis along the New Jersey Shore. During scheduled performances, four actors move through the gallery, activating the photographs with verbatim text drawn from interviews with community members affected by opioid addiction, including users, former users, family members, and activists.
